Why is the RCC a game changer for postdocs?

Miljan Corovic, Uni Graz

In advance of our festival (April 22-23), we've asked our community what they think of our work.

We've reached out to researchers with whom we have had particularly close contact over the past few years. Miljan Ćorović has answered!

You might know Miljan from the PostDoc Office interviews about joys and challenges in a research career (see here), or from his report on his PostDoc Grant trip to Belgrade.

As a synthetic chemist, Miljan Ćorović walks the line between magic and science, and we truly enjoy that he is such a good customer of our offers! Here is what he says:

"Working as a researcher is weird. Finding a way to balance what truly interests you, what satisfies your supervisor, what is publishable, and what funders want often feels more like juggling than a creative process. Very often, one can feel awkward for losing a day to a failed experiment, having a flawed hypothesis, or having a lot to teach but no time to focus on research. This is why having support from the research institution is a game changer. The Research Careers Campus offers a space to meet fellow researchers, learn transferable skills, gain access to many continuing education courses, and sometimes even enjoy free pizza. Because of RCC, I attended a great scientific writing course, received funding to visit an international conference, took part in discussions about how to foster a more humane academic environment, and I am very much looking forward to the new extended version of the yearly event: a two-day festival in April to celebrate positive research culture.”

Thanks, Miljan, for the fantastic testimonial!

Maybe you'll get the chance to have a chat with Miljan there!
