This summer, we're all about making space in your work life for those things YOU consider a priority. So we've asked our University of Graz researcher community about aspects of their daily work life that they have developed a useful routine for - and aspects that still need a “research life hack”.
Interview partner:
- Markus Wurzer, Department of History
Markus Wurzer's daily work:
“I am a historian and Senior Lecturer at the Department of History, where I investigate how Habsburg colonialism has been remembered in Austria's contemporary history."
The "happy hack" that makes Markus more efficient/creative/motivated at work:
"I try to reserve the first part of my day for tasks that require the most focus and creativity - such as writing or reading - while postponing emails and administrative matters until later. Admittedly, this doesn’t always work perfectly, but I find it helps me make the most of my productive hours."
And the challenge in his research life that he still needs a hack for:
“I am still searching for the ultimate way to organize my daily to-dos. I’ve tried everything from sticky notes and paper lists to digital apps, but I haven’t found the right tool yet.”
What is your own happy hack? Let us know!
