Academic careers often come with uncertainty. Am I on the right track? Which opportunities should I pursue? How can I navigate expectations, visibility, leadership responsibilities, and institutional structures? And how do others deal with the challenges that arise along the way?
This small-group session offers career-track researchers the opportunity to discuss these questions in a confidential setting with former Vice-Rector Renate Dworczak and fellow participants.
Drawing on her experience as researcher, professor, and university leader, Renate Dworczak shares insights into the written and unwritten rules that shape academic careers while creating space for participants' own questions, experiences, and current challenges.
The format is deliberately conversational: less lecture, more exchange. Participants are encouraged to bring along the questions, dilemmas, and decisions they are currently grappling with.
About the expert:
Ao.Univ-Prof. Dr. Renate Dworczak, retired professor of organic chemistry, was until 2022 special representative of the rectorate for gender equality and diversity. She has served as Vice-Rector for Staff, Staff Development and Equality for three four-year terms and prior to that was chair of the AKGL (Arbeitskreis für Gleichbehandlungsfragen/ Working Group for Equal Opportunities).
