International best practices in researcher development

Watch a video recording of the MSCA Presidency Conference 2025 in Denmark

What do universities in Europe offer to develop their research talents, and to attract and maintain researchers? The University of Graz is honored to be featured in a show of best practices during a panel discussion at the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Presidency Conference 2025.

This event was organised by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), with the support of the European Commission, from 18 to 19 September 2025.

The conference brought together early career researchers, policy makers, university leaders and industry representatives to discuss the purpose-driven university, working culture and intersectoral mobility, diversity, well-being, academic talent programmes, international initiatives such as the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) and the role of supervisors. The aim was to generate actionable recommendations for the future MSCA programmes on motivation and working life of MSCA fellows.

Resources:

  • Here is a video recording of the panel “Academic Talent Programmes”, featuring an introduction into the work of the University of Graz PostDoc Office and Research Careers Campus.
  • Here is a short post-conference report.
  • Here are five preparatory concept notes, one of which was co-edited by Johanna Stadlbauer of the University of Graz.
  • The whole conference programme is equipped with recordings.
